Past Activities
Oct 29 we had the Spaghetti Dinner starting at 5:00pm and lasted to 7:00pm. Thanks to all who helped and contributed to our charitable causes. Boy Scout Troop 664 was a great help and we are taking these boys under our wings!
Oct 27 was our Halloween party for the kids at Rolling Elementary school. The kids looked like that they had good time. We had costume judging for 4 different age groups. Many thanks goes to American Licorice in La Porte, Indiana for their kind donation of candy to our kids! Oct 25 we had the Peace Poster contest. we did pick a winner to go to District judging.
Over 200 people showed up to our Pork chop Dinner. Nancy Biggum chaired our event and Leonard was our cook. It is a delight to see our community show up for this fundraiser! We had 101 kids at our Easter Egg Hunt at Rolling Timbers Park. Thanks Mike Hull for letting the Lions use your park for this event. Kids had a great time. Pictures can be seen in Recent Pictures Jim Dermody (New Prairie United School Corporation Superintendent) was out guest speaker at our March 1 Tuesday meeting. Jim is also a New Carlisle Lion member. He enlightened us on the goals of the schools. Thanks Jim Our Christmas baskets were a little different this year. Again, with the help of the community and the Mill Creek Lions, and Lion Stephanie Marron chairing our project, we delivered to 60 families and filled the food pantries at the United Methodist Church, and also Lamb's Chapel. The New Prairie school system again helped gather mass quantities of food, and was packaged in boxes for delivery. Thanks to all who helped!
The Rolling Prairie Lions ordered several hundred dictionaries for the 3rd graders in Prairie View Elementary and for Rolling Prairie Elementary Schools. Lion David Jandrisovits headed this project with Lion Stephanie Marron as the co-chairman. We received several hundred letters from the 3rd grade students expressing their gratitude. There is nothing better than putting a smile on children's faces! Our Harvest Bicycle Tour was a great success. Our ride is growing every year and we plan on this event for many more years! Great Job Lion Harold and Lion Ron King! A great thanks for Stevetty's Pizzaria for their hospitality to our riders!!!!!
June 25, 2010 was our Pork Chop Dinner. We served over 200 people. thanks to all who attended !
March 20, 2010 Spaghetti Dinner at the Fire Station was a huge success!
April 4, 2010 - Easter Egg Hunt - Oh My God!.....150 kids attended this. Oh how delightful it was to see all those children have fun!
December, 2009 we had our Christmas Basket project. Stephanie Marron and Ed Neve were our chairmans for the project. Excellent job Steph and Ed! We bought 150 hams and 150 bags of potatoes from East Side Market. Apples were donated from Williams Orchard. Red Gold donated their products, Thanks to the Paarlbergs!. New Prairie Community School did a great job this year sorting the canned goods for us! Alpha and Bunnie Bread donated the bread. We received the boxes from Packaging Logic, who do allot of charity donations to our projects. Along with local community helpers, Mill Creek Lions had their hands in there too! Rolling Prairie Lions thank Mill Creek and our community for all their help! November 7, 2009 was our pancake breakfast which was for a fund raiser for the Rolling Prairie Pre-school

Sunday, August 16, 2009 was our Harvest Bicycle Tour. 110 riders came out to ride our 4 routes of 25, 40, 62 and 100 miles. We had 4 SAG stops and 1 more extra for the 100 milers. The Lions are very pleased to see the riders support our charity causes. Thanks to all who participated and helped out. Friday, June 26,2009 was our Pork Chop Dinner. We sold all 250 Pork Chops. Mike Hull's son , Cliff Hull( from Milwaukee) was the cook that evening along with David Kay from Marion. Joan Nickerson made all the cup cakes. Laporte Savings Bank supplied us with 500 napkins. Our dinner went very smooth and encourage all to come out again next year! Saturday, April 11,2009 - The Easter Egg Hunt at Rolling Timbers Park. There was a surprising 160 children that attended this event. We were not prepared to have this many children, so we ran out of candy to hand out. We will be prepared for next year. Sorry for the inconvenience. The children seemed to have a great time. It was pleasant to see this amount of people attend our Easter Egg Hunt. In the past few years, because of weather, we had from 12-30 kids attend. We were prepared for 100..........160 ..wow. We were floored! Thanks to all who attended and helped! Saturday, March 21, 2009 was the Lions Spaghetti dinner. This event was chaired by Ed Neve and co-chaired by Gus Hernandez. We were pleased to see 220 people come in and enjoy our $5 dinner ( all you can eat) . Economic conditions are hard on us, so we figured we needed a break. We had many special guests. Jim Arnold, Tom Dermody and Michael Mollenhauer. We also had our Lion's past District Governor appear: Margaret Verkuilen. Thanks to all who helped out.
