We gave out a total of 132 dictionaries between 2 schools. Four classes in Rolling prairie Elementary totaling 81and 2 classes in Prairie View totaling 51. Rolling Prairie Lions are active in promoting education in New Prairie School system.

 

At Rolling, the teachers of the four classes were: Mrs. Smiertelny, Mrs Kenaga, Megan Horvath and Cheryl Karczewski.

4th Annual Dictionary Project - October 2013

 

First school we went to was Rolling Prairie Elementary School. 3rd grade was our target and Ms. Bartlett is the Principal. There were 3 classes and the teachers . Mrs Smiertelny, Mrs. Bellinger and Mrs. Karczewski. Mrs Audiss was the substitute for Mrs Bellinger that day. A total of 72 dictionaries were distributed. Lions John Marron, Mike Hull, Ron King and Gus Hernandez were there to present the dictionaries. Lion Stephanie was our chair person for the event.

1 week later, we went to Prairie View Elementary and distributed 50+ dictionaries. Principal for Prairie View is Mrs. Myers and the 3rd grade teachers were Ms. Wilkins and Mrs.Bashaw.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs worldwide. Founded in 1917, Lions are best known for fighting blindness. Lions also
volunteer for many different kinds of community projects, including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled. The Lions Club motto is "We Serve."

This organization has donated 285,969 books. They have been implementing the project since 2002-2003, with at least 340 clubs/sections participating in the project. They have donated to over 1,112 school(s) nationwide!

So far in 2012-2013, they have donated 32,912 books, giving to students in over 429 schools, and with about 131 clubs participating.
